How to create a character

I like the thought of getting so many points to create your character, say like 25 points that you can assign to all the attributes. Something like a max of 10 for any one attribute.

Then you choose a race. The race modifiers will then modify the attributes. With that part done they begin the game. They must visit people in the starting town to choose what profession or class they will become.

Example: If you want to be a thief, you would seek out a thieves guild member... Do a few small quest then earn the right to become a thief.

Once you have a profession, that professions attribute modifiers will go into effect. Now your are ready to begin your journey.

The modifiers for both race and class will be both a plus and a minus and could affect all attributes.

I like..

I like this, but one thing I think should be different is that the race should be choosen first, because race should affect your attributed greatly. You need to know what your racial stats are so that you can spend your starter points accordingly.

As far as choosing a profesion, I dont think there should be any classes that are limited by race like in a lot of games. Although there are class/race combos that just shouldt happen, let the people decide how they want to play a char. If someone just really wants a challenge and wants to make an Ogre wizard, let em :)

From an RP standpoint, any race would be able to do any profesion, just some wouldnt make as much sense as others. But again, I think the new version of MD needs to be all about choice. Choices, and lots of them, are what make an RPG go 'round in my opinion.
